Playing with colour...

Playing with process colours, stencils and over printing with a bit of ghosting thrown in.

Just loving developing this process and experimenting, the hours just whizz away when I'm in the print room it's like being in the Tardis!

If you love print making and love original print eye candy
and live in Yorkshire, head to The Hepworth this weekend for the fabulous Print Fair.
Fabulously talented print makers to chat to, gorgeous original prints to admire and buy and general fab creative inspiration and loveliness.

I'll be on the WYPW stand on Saturday, and I have work on the wonderful Watermark stand.

Lucky Heather

I've been back at the print workshop this week creating another screen print inspired by a little vintage Andrews Liver salts tin I found.

This beautiful rusty old tin, contained a powder for the joy of 'inner cleanliness' according to Wiki...

"Andrews Liver Salts was first sold from 1894, by William Henry Scott and William Murdoch Turner. Their business in the north-east of England originally imported margarine in the 1870s and 1880s. Their offices were in GallowgateNewcastle upon Tyne, and the product was named after St Andrew's church nearby. The trademark "Andrews Liver Salt" was registered in 1909. From the 1930s, promotional materials recommended taking the salts for "inner cleanliness".

At the time of buying the tin, all the heather in our back garden
( I use the word 'Garden' very loosely  ) was flowering a beautiful magenta purple which complimented the little green rusty tin perfectly!

So, after drawing from a photograph of the tin and heather on our fireplace
and creating the black artwork for the colour separations
and spending way tooooooo much time mixing greys and ash wood tones,
I started to print...

... It felt so good to be back in the screen printing studio,

and soooo very lovely to have Skyla around on work experience,
being a fabulously efficient help and sharing her chocolate hobnob teacakes!
Happy days!

My Lucky heather print is available in my Etsy and Folksy shops.

Hope your whole system is feels invigorated today!

Monoprint joy....

Finding happiness in experimenting with process colours and Monoprinting with an etching press, collaging and playing with stencils!

I've booked more time in the print room to carry on my mono printing journey,
I don't know where I'm going with it but I'm loving every minute!

Kathmandu

A few last pictures from glorious Kathmandu.

People who had been before me told me it would be an 'asault on my senses' and it was,
and I loved every technicolour bit of it.

Here are just a tiny few of my fave pics...

Working at the hospice with this bunch of wonderful people.

I don't know if this little film of Durbar square will load up or not?
But I loved the explosion of colour here.

My adventuring partner gorgeous Jane.

Till next time wonderful Nepal....
